Barbara (D’Albora) Ruggieri of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at the age of 72 after a brief illness. She was previously a long-time resident of Tiverton and Warren, Rhode Island.
Barbara was born in New York on March 27, 1942, to the late John and Isabell Burns. She moved to Titusville, Florida, at the age of 6. Barbara married John D’Albora in 1962 and moved to Tiverton where she was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church and a member of the Women’s Guild. She was a volunteer at St. Philomena’s School which her children attended. While living in Warren, she was a communicant of St. Mary’s of the Bay Church.
Bobbie was a graduate of Salve Regina University in Newport, and a registered nurse.
Bobbie leaves behind her husband Phillip Ruggieri of Fort Myers, and five children from her previous marriage: John S. D’Albora (wife Carol) of Littleton, Col., Marybeth D’Albora, Esq. of Providence, Matthew C. D’Albora (wife Lula) of Orlando, Fla., Jennifer R. Estes (husband Lee) of Mattapoisett, Mass., and Michele Kelly-Robinson (husband Ian) of Warwick. She also has 10 grandchildren, Stacy, Michael, Stephanie, Maxine, Lee, Adam, Tyler, Dylan, Andrew, and Kamryn; and one great-grandchild, Alexander.
Bobbie enjoyed spending time with her young grandchildren and her pets. She also took pleasure in gardening, traveling and was a talented painter and sketch artist. She had an Irish sense of humor, an iron will and an epic sense of style.
Barbara moved to Fort Myers six years ago where she continued nursing and took care of her stepdaughter, four grandchildren, and infirm husband.
Please join us for a Memorial Mass in honor of Barbara Ruggieri on October 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at St. Christopher‘s Church, 1554 Main Road, Tiverton.
