Barrington lost 10-9 to Rumford in the championship game of the Ron Silva Tournament on Monday night, July 29.

Barrington played hard throughout the game and held a lead late. But Rumford rallied to scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth and force the game into extra innings. Barrington scored one run in the top of the seventh, but allowed two in the bottom of the inning.

The loss spelled the end to an impressive run for the Barrington Little League team, which reached the finals with an undefeated run through the winner’s bracket.

Barrington Coach Marc Coppolino praised his team’s effort throughout the tournament.

“The kids never quit. We trailed in every game we played this tournament and never quit,” he said. “They responded to adversity all season and the future of Barrington baseball is extremely bright.

“I’m honored to coach and mentor these kids.”

Barrington’s Colin Fortin, Angelo Bruneau, Tommy Elliott and Zac Possiel shared pitching duties in the final. Bruneau led the charge, striking out three batters and allowing just three hits in four-and-one-third innings of work.

Wes Argo had one hit and drove in two runs to lead Barrington’s offense. Will Perreault scored twice.

Barrington lost the first game of the finals 6-4 to Rumford, which forced the winner-takes-all final on Monday night.
