The Barrington High School cross country teams recently proved that training on flat ground does not mean you can’t run hills. 

The BHS boys team ran to a third place finish at the 2022 Woods Trail Run hosted by Thetford Academy in Thetford, Vt. 

The Barrington girls team also ran well in Thetford, finished fourth overall in the girls race. 

Boys race

The Eagles scored 159 points, finishing third behind first place St. Johnsbury Academy and second place Champlain Valley, Vt. 

Barrington junior Brandon Piedade led the way for the Eagles. Piedade finished third overall with a time of 17:00.3. He was the top-finishing junior in the race. Eliot Lefort was the second finisher for Barrington, crossing the line 29th overall with a time of 17:59. 

Myles Napolitano was 31st overall with a time of 18:01.1, while Connor Curran was 41st with a time of 18:18.5. Charlie Stockwell was 62nd overall with a time of 18:43.7, and Christopher Clyne was 70th with a time of 18:51.2. 

Other Barrington finishers were Sam Bishop (80), Henry Schultz (116), Phinneas Stabach (128), Marius Bonard (133), Daniel Chun (140), Michael Chun (146), Sam Barber (170), Fritz Muehlbauer (215), Preston Brown (217), Andrew Cambria (254), Elijah Hruska (307), Vikram Bansal (456), Spencer Kustell (499), Alex Marcu (500), and Warren Lightbown (514).

Girls race

Barrington scored 199 points and finished fourth overall in the girls race. Champlain Valley finished first, while Essex (Vt.) was second, Hopkinton (NH) was third, and Mt. Mansfield (Vt.) was fifth. 

Kyle Keough was Barrington’s top finisher, crossing the line 28th with a time of 21:44.9. Sophie Gardos finished 34th with a time of 22:03.6, and Caroline Reznik was 44th with a time of 22:21.2. 

Sara Chang finished 56th with a time of 22:42.3, and Indie Lamb was 64th overall with a time of 23:04.7.

Other Barrington finishers were Mia He (81), Maeve Kelly (91), Jane Bryant (93), Virginia Sanderson (124), Emma Pautz (160), Tosca Barako (165), Allie Ford (172), Sabine Cladis (185), Josie Owens (208), Faith Barrass (223), Katherine Chun (236), Kate Mellen (239), Lillie Brown (250), Grace Mole (313), and Allison Dumas (344).

Dual meets

The Barrington High School boys picked up two victories during a dual meet on Sept. 27. The Eagles defeated Mt. Hope 15-50, and Moses Brown 21-40. Barrington had eight of the top 10 overall finishers: 1. Piedade, 2. Napolitano, 5. Curran, 6. Lefort, 7. Stockwell, 8. Finn Myatt, 9. Schultz, and 10. Clyne. 

The Barrington girls team celebrated three wins on Sept. 27. The Eagles knocked off Mt. Hope 21-39, Moses Brown 26-31, and LaSalle 19-44. Keough finished second overall, while Gardos was fifth, Lamb was seventh, and Chang was 10th.
