The Barrington High School girls basketball team is headed to the State Tournament finals.
The Eagles opened a 10-point lead early in the state semifinals at URI on Saturday, March 16, against Bay View and never looked back. Barrington rolled to a 44-29 victory and will play in the State Tournament Championship game on Sunday at URI’s Ryan Center at 3:30 p.m.
The Eagles sprinted out to a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter. By halftime, Barrington led 24-14, and as the two teams entered the final quarter, the Eagles’ lead had grown to 13 points.
Janaya Prince Baquero knocked down a pair of three-pointers and finished the game with 13 points to lead Barrington. Isys Dunphy scored 12 points, Maddie Gill dropped in 10, and Riley Graveline finished with nine.
In the finals, the Eagles will play against the winner of the Moses Brown vs. North Kingstown semifinal.
