Barrington High School football coach Sandy Gorham received a special honor at the recent Emo DiNitto/RI Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame awards banquet. 

Gorham earned the “Contribution to Amateur Football Award.” Meanwhile, recent Barrington High School graduate Noah Kranowitz was selected as a member of the Silver Dozen — an honored bestowed on standout student-athletes. Kranowitz was a leader on the BHS football team. 

Gorham began coaching football in 1974, at Barrington Middle School. He then served as an assistant coach for the BHS freshman football team from 1975 to 1982, and became head freshman coach in 1980. He led the BHS freshman football team to two state championship games. From 1983 to 1989, Gorham coached the BHS varsity football team, serving as head coach from 1985 to 1989. 

Gorham coached the East Providence High School football team from 1992 to 2014, and won five state titles with the Townies. 

He returned to Barrington High School in 2015 and has served as head football coach from 2016 to the present. 

He has been inducted into the RI Football Coaches Hall of Fame, Providence Gridiron Club Hall of Fame, EP High School and Barrington High School Halls of Fame.
