Barrington Little League hosting movie night on Saturday

Outdoor movie will follow baseball and softball games

Posted

On Saturday, Oct. 12, Barrington Little League will host its first-ever Fall Family Movie Night at the Thomas H. Mellow Field at Vets Park.

Movie Night, which is open to all residents of Barrington, will begin with a 4 p.m. mixed-squad coach-pitch minors baseball game, followed at 5:45 p.m. with a mixed-squad majors softball game. When the softball game ends, the movie “Rookie of the Year” will be shown on the field, starting around 7:45 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for a cozy movie experience under the stars.

The event will also feature a 50/50 raffle, concessions, and lawn games for attendees to enjoy during the movie, making it a night full of entertainment for all ages.

While many families in Barrington will be observing Yom Kippur on the same evening, Barrington Little League expressed their regret over the scheduling conflict.

“Unfortunately, the Fall Ball game schedule is determined by the district, and with no games scheduled during the Columbus Day/Indigenous People’s Day weekend, this was the only available date to host this event,” stated a press release from Barrington Little League. The league wished those observing Yom Kippur an easy fast and promised similar events in the spring and fall of next year.
