Barrington’s Zach Newberg, a junior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, earned defensive recognition on D3football.com's Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for the games of October 28-29.
Newberg, a 2019 graduate of Barrington High School where he lettered in football and lacrosse, posted three sacks to push WPI to a 20-15 win over conference opponent Norwich.
The junior defensive lineman accounted for six tackles with four solo tackles including three of the Engineers' four sacks. The visiting Cadets' final drive was stopped with Newberg's last sack in the final minute of action to mark the first NEWMAC win of 2022.
Newberg's honor marked the first since WPI's offensive line earned recognition in week eight of 2019.
