• South Lake Drive remains closed, for now: Members of the Barrington Town Council voted to keep South Lake Drive closed to vehicle traffic until the June 7 meeting, if not later. The council had been expected to vote on what to do with South Lake Drive at the May meeting, but the town manager said he had not yet received input from all three committees tasked with studying the issue. Officials closed the road to vehicle traffic earlier this year, citing its poor condition, illegal dumping and underage drinking in that area.
• Register now for Eagles Hoop Camp: Eagle's Hoop Camp will run for its 23rd year during the weeks of July 12 to 16 and July 19 to 23. The camp is open to all boys and girls ages 8 to 15. The camp will be held at the new outdoor basketball courts at the Barrington Middle School from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The cost of the camp is $175 a week and includes an Eagle's Hoop Camp T-Shirt. To register, visit www.barringtonhigh.org and click on "athletic/clubs"; then click on "athletics"; then scroll down to BHS Summer Camps and then click "online registration" to sign up for "my school bucks" and register as a camper. The Registration deadline is June 21 and space is limited to 45 campers each week.
• Winners crowned in Pitch, Hit & Run competition: Barrington Little League held its annual Pitch, Hit & Run competition earlier this month, and recently announced the winners. In baseball, Lochlan Donaghy (7/8 year-olds), Carmine Rondinelli (9/10 year-olds) and A.J. Aguiar (11/12 year-olds) were the division winners. In softball, Emily Peluso (11/12 year-olds) and Anna Aguiar (13/14 year-olds) were the winners.
