The Barrington Little League Seniors All Star softball team won the District 2 Championship on Wednesday night, June 26.
Barrington defeated Portsmouth 10-7 in the final game of a best-of-three series. Barrington opened the series with an 11-3 win, then dropped the second game, 26-7.
In the third game, Barrington relied on solid defense and timely hitting. Audrey Paxton pitched a complete game for Barrington, and shortstop Cora Floriani cut down two runners at the plate and turned an unassisted double play. Floriani also caught a pop-up for the final out of the game.
Erin Moran crushed a triple, and Grace Fontaine, Anna Aguiar and Josslyn Daley each blasted doubles against Portsmouth. Emily Peluso and Corrina Flores also made key contributions for Barrington.
