Barrington Town Manager: Take a minute to get tested

Shopping center test site is for asymptomatic people only

Barrington Town Manager Jim Cunha is recommending residents make time to get tested for Covid-19.

The Rhode Island National Guard and the Rhode Island Department of Health are co-sponsoring the test site inside the Barrington Shopping Center, which is for asymptomatic testing only. Anyone who is sick or experiencing symptoms should schedule a test through portal.ri.gov.

“The asymptomatic pop-up COVID-19 testing site at the Barrington Shopping Center has been a tremendous success," Mr. Cunha said on Friday morning. "As of Thursday, Jan. 14 over 500 people had been tested. The site will remain open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Saturday, Jan. 23.  It will be closed on Sunday and Monday, Jan. 17 and 18. Lines are short and results are delivered in 15 minutes.

"All Barrington residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to keep our community safe.”

Town officials also offered special thanks to Joe Paolino and Paolino Properties for use of the storefront space in the shopping center.
