More than 90 youth soccer teams from across the region rolled into town last weekend to participate in the annual Barrington Invitational Tournament.
Hosted by the Barrington Youth Soccer Association, the tournament kicked off with games early Saturday morning and continued until late Sunday afternoon when division champs were crowned. The BIT marks the end of the fall soccer season for BYSA.
Here’s a closer look at the tournament, by the numbers:
• 23: Barrington youth soccer teams that participated
• 70: Teams from across RI, Mass., and Conn. that participated
• 1,400: Approximate number of players who competed
• 3,000: Approximate number of out-of-town visitors
• 35: Sponsors and vendors who supported the BIT
• 120: Volunteers who helped run the tournament
• 12: Competitive divisions in the BIT
• 4: Soccer venues (Chianese, Middle School, High School, St. Andrews School and Farm)
• 17: Total number of soccer fields
• 180: Total number of soccer games
• 3: Barrington teams that won championships
• 6: Barrington teams that finished runners-up
• 41: Years the BYSA has hosted the BIT
