A group of Barrington High School students recently received honors at the state meet for National History Day held at CCRI. 

Six BHS students from the History Club presented their projects for the theme "Turning Points in History." The students research and complete these projects on their own, 100 percent outside of their regular coursework — this project is not part of the school's history curriculum as it is in most schools around the nation who compete. 

“This year, we sent six students from our club and all six received honors,” wrote Barrington High School social studies teacher Tracy Miller, who serves as the History Club advisor. “Five of our students qualified for Nationals, to be held in DC from June 9-13.”

For the second year in a row, BHS senior Samuel Weiser and junior Mia Biagetti qualified for Nationals with their documentary titled "Deep Beep Beep: Sputnik’s Impact on American Education."

In their first year participating, BHS juniors Morgan Silva, Jane Fahey and Sadie Spector qualified for Nationals with their website: The Creation of the Internet: A Turning Point in Education.

Barrington High School sophomore Jackson Kelley was a runner up and alternate for Nationals with his paper titled "A Land of Two Kings: The Rise and Fall of New Zealand’s Kingitanga."
