Bristol Police made two arrests and responded to the Town Common late one night to find a group playing tennis between June 17-24, 2024.

Bristol PD: Two arrests and a late-night racket

Monday, June 17
A Metacom Avenue business reported at 8:41 a.m. that an “oil substance” had been thrown on the front of the business.

Police checked into a report of a dog bite that occurred earlier in the month on River Street at 9:36 a.m.

A Pearse Avenue resident called police at 9:36 a.m. after their dog got into an altercation with a woodchuck.

Identity fraud was reported on Beach Road at 10:36 a.m.

Graffiti was reported on Verndale Circle at 11:32 a.m.

Graffiti was reported at the Walley School on High Street at 12:49 p.m.

Andrew S. Calise, 46, of 23 Wendy Dr., Bristol, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. on Wendy Drive following a report of a domestic disturbance. He was charged with two counts of domestic violence (disorderly conduct and vandalism, both first offenses). He was later arraigned and released.

Police spoke to a cyclist traveling over the Mt. Hope Bridge at 6:32 p.m., informing them such activity was not allowed.

Tuesday, June 18
Bristol fire volunteers responded to East Bay Manufacturing on Franklin Street at 8:48 a.m. for the report of a fire outside the building. It was extinguished and reportedly was contained to some 55-gallon drums outside the building.

Morgan T. Oliveira, 18, of 195 Main St., Warren, was arrested on a warrant at 9:14 a.m. They were charged with transportation of alcoholic beverages by a person aged 18-21 (first offense).

Police responded to a report that there was possibly a sick woodchuck on Walley Street under a picnic table at 11:52 a.m. The report indicated it was just a child.

Police spoke to a man on a scooter who was soliciting in the area of Sherman Avenue at 11:57 a.m.

Police dispersed a man on Gooding Avenue at 2:17 p.m. who was reportedly yelling at women walking by.

Police received a report a person had left with a pizza from Pomodoro Pizzeria on Wood Street without paying at 8:35 p.m.

Wednesday, June 19
Identity fraud was reported on Sousa Street at 9:57 a.m.

A report of fraud from Roger Williams University was logged at 10:56 a.m.

Thursday, June 20
Police checked Easterbrooks Avenue at 11:09 p.m. for the report of a man with no shirt and one shoe who was allegedly yelling racial slurs in the road. They didn’t find anyone in the area.

A second report, this time at 11:45 p.m. from the anonymous tip line, notified police of a man yelling racial slurs on Easterbrooks Avenue. Police again could not find the man allegedly responsible.

Friday, June 21
Police checked Asylum Road for a man allegedly trying to break into vehicles at 12:56 p.m. but found no one there.

Police responded to Lisa Lane at 2:06 p.m. for a report of juveniles riding motorbikes and golf carts in the road but they were gone when police arrived.

Police dispersed fishermen fishing off a private dock on Griswold Avenue at 5:49 p.m.

Saturday, June 22
Police were called to the Bristol Golf Course at 3:27 p.m. after a car was struck by a golf ball. Police reported the parties were going to handle the matter civilly.

Police dispersed a group of late night tennis players from the courts on the Town Common at 10:53 p.m. after someone complained about the noise they were making.

Sunday, June 23
Bank fraud was reported on Deer Run Road at 7:48 a.m.

Police checked into a report of an ATM skimming incident at a bank on Gooding Avenue.

Police checked on a call for suspicious activity at Vet’s Park on Wood Street at 9:43 p.m. They learned it was an employee of parks and recreation covering the field from the rain.
