Bristol Shoreline Access Walking Tour

Posted

Join us on a walking tour of some of Bristol's public shoreline access sites! We will talk about how you can find these sites, how you might use them, and what to do if you think a site is public, but it looks private. Many public shoreline rights-of-way are also storm drain areas - we'll look at how Bristol has renovated stormwater filtration at one of these sites using green infrastructure for improved water quality.

This short walking tour will be under a mile total and include stops at four public access rights-of-way in Bristol that are located along the East Bay Bike Path.

Speakers during the tour will include Bristol Harbor Master Gregg Marsili, Leah Feldman of the CRMC, and Janet Freedman of the URI Coastal Institute.

This event is sponsored by the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council, the Coastal Institute at URI, and Rhode Island Sea Grant.

After registering, you will receive an email a few days before the event with directions and parking information.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
