Columbus Day Festival is all weekend in Federal Hill

The Federal Hill Commerce Association celebrates the 39th annual Columbus Day Festival on historic Federal Hill from Friday to Monday, Oct. 11 to 14. The festival takes place from Dean Street to Sutton Street along Atwells Avenue. The La Cucina Galbani Cooking Stage at America Street and Atwells Avenue is a featured attraction.

Enjoy more than 80 food, art and retail vendors along with games, and amusement rides. Listen to live entertainment on three different stages throughout the festival grounds. Experience the flavors of over 26 Federal Hill restaurants that offer expanded seating as well as feature special menu items for the weekend. A sampling of participants include Trattoria Appia, Venda Ravioli, Saje Kitchen, Providence Oyster Bar, Cafe Italia, and Cassarinos.

Hours are: Friday, from 5 p.m. to midnight; Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m. ⁠to midnight; and Monday, 11 a.m. ⁠to⁠ 8 p.m.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
