Crescienzo “Chris” Malafronte, 100, of Bristol

Crescienzo “Chris” Malafronte, 100, of Bristol, R.I., passed away, Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021.

He was the husband of Claire Irene (Belmore) Malafronte, who Chris fondly called “June,” for 75 wonderful years.

Born in Bristol, R.I., he was the son of the late Raphael and Amelia (Stanzione) Malafronte.

Chris had worked as a wire worker for Kaiser Aluminum in Bristol and Portsmouth for 25 years, retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II. He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bristol. Chris enjoyed woodworking, where he made furniture and kids toys, golfing, and planting his vegetable garden. Chris was a daily walker of Colt State Park for many years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Barbara Goodreau of Somerset, Mass., Jane Trainor and her husband Edward of Cranston, R.I., and Robin Silva of Bristol, R.I.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Robin and her husband Brandon, Greg and his wife Darlene, Matthew and his wife Julianna, Megan and her husband Sean; five great grandchildren, Brighton, Liliana, Gwendolyn, Winston and Evangeline. He was also the brother of the late, Amato “Mike” Malafronte, Salvatore “Sal” Malafronte, Michael “Spug” Malafronte, Mary Malafronte and Anna Malafronte.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m. in Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021, at 10 a.m. from Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd., Warren, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 131 State St., Bristol.

Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol, RI.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 146 Clifford St. #1, Providence, RI, 02903, or the Disabled American Veterans, 360 Westminster St., Providence, RI, 02903.
