Tiverton

Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: First and foremost, I'd like to thank the voters of Tiverton for putting their trust in me for the last four years. It has been a learning experience and challenge like no other! The goal of my first term was to accentuate the best of what the Tiverton Schools had to offer, while working to improve in areas that needed it most. The steps we've taken with administrative leadership have put us on the right path to take those next important steps to succeed. Massive technology improvements have been made, and our buildings have been maintained and improved with significant financial investments to prolong their lives. Our parents are more involved than ever and our students are getting more robust learning opportunities as well. As a result, Tiverton's taxpayers are getting more bang for their buck! In the next 4 years, the School Committee will need to be laser focused on stronger policies to guide the school leaders. We will also be faced with tighter fiscal constraints and the need to deliver the best possible education within those constraints. Additionally, we need to start thinking more strategically and develop a long term plan that keeps our schools clean, safe and results in a public school district that Tiverton families can proudly send their children to, from kindergarten through high school graduation. For the next 4 years, I will fight for better state funding for regular and special education, as well as state controls over transportation costs. I will continue to work tirelessly to continue to support our students and leaders as we work together to make Tiverton's schools the best in RI! Thank you, and I ask for your continued trust and your vote!
