Eagles fall to Townies in girls volleyball showdown

Barrington rallies from 0-2 to force fifth set

The Barrington High School girls volleyball team pushed East Providence to the edge in a five-set battle before falling 3-2 on Wednesday night, Sept. 11. 

East Providence won the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-17, to take a commanding lead. But the home team Eagles rallied to win the next two sets, 25-22 and 25-15. In the fifth and deciding set, the Townies prevailed, 15-11.

Sophia Denham led the Eagles with nine kills, nine digs and five aces, while Rachel Freshman pitched in with six kills, five aces and five digs. 

Keira Mullen paced the Townies with 13 kills, 14 assists, four aces, six digs, and four blocks, while Eliza Vest finished with seven kills, nine digs and three aces. 

East Providence won the JV match, 2-1.

Barrington will host Prout on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m.
