It was a slow start but a strong finish for the Barrington High School girls basketball team on Tuesday night, Dec. 20.
The Eagles battled with Classical early on, and led by just four points at the break, 13-9. But the second half was a different story — Barrington’s offense heated up and the Eagles pulled away for a 42-17 victory over the Purple. With the win, Barrington’s league mark improved to 2-1.
Junior guard Maddie Gill had a stellar game for the Eagles, scoring 21 points. Barrington’s Janaya Prince-Baquero also played well and finished with 11 points.
Lindsey Lemay was a force in the paint, said Barrington Coach Stephen Lenz. Lemay grabbed eight rebounds and blocked seven Classical shots. She also deflected seven passes and neutralized Classical’s interior players.
Barrington is scheduled to play at Rogers High School on Thursday night, and will compete in a basketball tournament in Fairfield, Conn. over the holiday break.
