Football, cheerleading and volleyball were approved for competition at Barrington High School. Unified volleyball was not. Why? There’s no clear reason, other than the school department is acting with an abundance of caution.

Does that mean they were cautious with the special needs students, but not cautious with the football players, volleyball players and cheerleaders?

More than a dozen high schools are competing in unified sports right now. Barrington students are not, though they do expect to be playing unified basketball later this spring.

After having all activities and opportunities closed to them for more than a year, it will be nice to give the special education students a chance to participate once again.
