Last weekend was a time for celebrations at Barrington High School.

Congratulations to the girls’ lacrosse team for shocking the dominant program in the state and taking down Moses Brown, 10-8, in the championship game on Saturday night. Led by a first-year head coach who slowly built her team into team-first, patient and defensive-minded crew, the Eagles played a nearly flawless game Saturday night before a rauccous crowd of supporters.

The euphoria spilled over to the next day, when the seniors on the team were still wearing their championship medals while crossing the stage during commencement exercises on Victory Field. They and their classmates celebrated the end of one of the most unique and challenging high school experiences in generations.

The Class of 2022 had one “normal” school year and three years of pandemic-influenced turmoil. Through all of it, they grew, matured, toughened and reached the finish line, stronger than when they started.

Congratulations to all the Eagles for poise, grace and success in the face of adversity.
