Edna M. Chagnon, 91, of Hoppin Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on Jan. 4, 2013.

She is survived by a daughter; Carol J. O’Brien of Riverside, three granddaughters; Dena M. O’Brien of Riverside, Dawn M. Clarke and her husband William of Barrington and Shannon B. Rosciti of Lincoln and four great grandchildren.  She was the sister of the late Bernard Durrant and his wife Trudy.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, in the Saints Matthew & Mark Episcopal Church, 5 Chapel Road, Barrington, at 10 a.m. to which relatives and friends are invited.  Burial will follow in North Burial Ground, Providence.  Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.  Contributions in Edna’s memory to Saints Matthew & Mark Episcopal Church would be deeply appreciated. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
