Emery H. Pineo, 40, of Little Compton, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, surrounded by his family, at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the beloved son of Emery G. Pineo, III and Lindsey (Knight) Pineo of Little Compton.

Emery H. Pineo, 40, Little Compton

Emery H. Pineo, 40, of Little Compton, passed away on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, surrounded by his family, at Saint Anne’s Hospital in Fall River. He was the beloved son of Emery G. Pineo, III and Lindsey (Knight) Pineo of Little Compton.

Emery was born in Providence and earned his certificate of attendance at the age of 21 from the Meeting Street School. He was a resident at the “Life Incorporated” Jiley Hill Group Home in Tiverton for the past eight years.

At an early age Emery showed a particular interest in playing the piano.  Emery was an active participant in the Special Olympics and particularly enjoyed the swimming competition.

Survivors, besides his parents, are a brother: Brandon E. Pineo and his wife Renee of Little Compton; his maternal grandmother, Evelyn Knight of Middletown; two aunts, Leslie Kiehl of Lake Worth, Fla., and Virginia Gonville and her husband Jerry of Barrington; three cousins, Cheryl Straub and her husband Russell of Evergreen, Col., Deborah Miller and her husband Chip of Barrington, and David Gonville and his wife Maeve of Barrington.

Emery’s family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, Feb. 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m. in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson Street, Fall River. Flowers are omitted at the request of the family. Memorial donations in Emery’s memory may be made to the National Tay-Sachs and Allied Diseases Foundation, 2001 Beacon Street, Suite 204, Boston, MA 02135.
