The East Providence High School girls’ lacrosse team opened up its 2022 Division III regular season over the last week with a pair of one-sided wins over Scituate and Classical.
In their 17-11 win on the road in Scituate last Thursday afternoon, April 7, Izzy Tavares led the locals with seven goals. Captains Ryleigh Grant and Olivia Williams each scored a hat trick, Kenna Wigginton had two goals while Emma Nordquist and Dylan Flynn had one apiece.
Keeper Rylee Jackson made three saves. The defense was lead by senior captains Tessa Laroche and Haley Massa, along with Kaylee Vieira.
Tavares netted five goals for the Townies in their 17-2 home opener victory over the visiting Purple on Monday, April 11. EPHS was thoroughly in control, leading 11-2 at halftime. Grant, Williams, Wigginton and Nordquist each scored three apiece.
Jackson made two saves. Defensive standouts included Katherine Almeida, Ava Soares, Ava Williams and Gabrielle Phaneuf.
