Heavy rains cause flooding, road closures in downtown Bristol

Posted

Following Sunday’s snow storm, a massive deluge of rain from another storm hit late Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning. The combination of a high volume of rain, snow melt, and high tide resulted in significant flooding, which caused Bristol Police to detour much of the downtown area near Thames Street and Independence Park.

In these photos, you can see the large lake that formed near the bike path, and a pond that formed near the Silver Creek bridge.
