Come and join the BH&PS for the discussion of July's book selection: Puritans at Play, by Bruce C. Daniels. Daniels' book reappraises our perception of Puritans being dour, joyless, and repressed by examining leisure and recreation in Colonial and Revolutionary New England. Chapters on music, dinner parties, dancing, sex, alcohol, taverns, and sports are presented in a lively style, making this book as entertaining as it is illuminating. You do not need to be a member of the BH&PS to join the History Book Club as all are welcome. (There are some copies of the book available for checkout at the Circulation Desk at the Rogers Free Library.)
