Illusionist Lyn Dillies, of Westport, is showcasing her talents at the Zeiterion Theater on Saturday, Sept. 10,  in a show titled “Make Hunger Disappear," to benefit a food distribution program that benefits the Greater Boston Food Bank.

YMCA SouthCoast and the Greater Boston Food Bank launched the Full Plate Project (FPP) in November 2020 to increase access to healthy food due to the COVID-19 pandemic. More than a million pounds of food is distributed through this volunteer-driven program annually via mobile markets at five Y branches, deliveries to affordable housing sites, and collaborations with other nonprofit organizations.

The busiest market is held at the Dartmouth Y (St. Mary’s Church in the summer) every Tuesday afternoon and regularly serves 400-500 families. The Dartmouth market is a collaboration between the Y and Dartmouth United Outreach (DUO), a grassroots initiative which previously hosted a grab and go market at Smith Mills Congregational Church. 

Dillies says, “It’s imperative that we keep this program going. We've seen the need for food assistance quadruple since last summer. The proceeds from my show at the Zeiterion Theatre will benefit the Full Plate Program. This family-friendly performance will allow many people to experience my spectacular magic as part of a very special evening on behalf of helping so many folks in need.”
