In Portsmouth: Come help care for Holly!

Fund-raiser for police comfort dog is Oct. 4

PORTSMOUTH — One of our favorite four-legged friends will be the beneficiary of Escobar Corn Maze Night on Friday, Oct. 4.

The parent-teacher groups from Portsmouth Middle School, Hathaway Elementary School and Melville Elementary School are hosting the evening, all proceeds from which will benefit the care of Holly, the police comfort dog for the local school district.

The event is from 3:30 p.m. to dusk on Oct. 4 at Escobar Corn Maze, 255 Middle Road. (The rain date is Friday, Oct. 18.) Visit the tables that will be set up to purchase tickets.

Joined by School Resource Officer Wes Lemar, Holly has brought joy to students throughout the district and has been a welcome addition to the community.
Holly’s service is funded strictly through donations, and while there have been many generous sponsors in the nine months since she has been in Portsmouth, there is continuous care such as food, grooming, veterinary bills and regular allergy shots. The parent-teacher groups recognize how important Holly and SRO Lemar are to the school community, and want to help with the financial support.
