Jane’s Walk, a weekend of free, community-led walks, is celebrating its 10th year in Providence. Multiple walks will take place Friday to Sunday, May 3 to 5, throughout the city.
Explore Providence neighborhoods on foot with Jane’s Walk, a global walking festival May 3-5, inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. These interactive walks are led by local residents and community activists who get people thinking, talking, and connecting with each other. Jane’s Walks are free and anyone can participate!
Wear comfortable shoes, meet your walk leader in the designated meeting spot, and get ready for a lively discussion. Walks take place rain or shine.
Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories, discover unseen corners of their cities, and use walking as a way to connect with one another. Walks are led by local residents and community members and are free to all participants. Topics from previous Jane’s Walk Providence have included history, architecture, diaspora communities and immigration, transportation and mobility, food, public art and performance, public space, community development, and neighborhood quirks and characters. There’s something for everyone!
Each walk is accompanied by a fun, relevant theme - upcoming Providence event themes include Babe Ruth, LGBTQ history in Providence, and the evolution of the State House!
