Jean W. MacDonald, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2015.

Born May 27, 1927 in Troy, Kansas, she was the beloved wife of the late Angus MacDonald.

She was an avid golfer with her late husband. She spent the last 23 years in Portsmouth with her loving daughter and son-in-law.

She has one surviving brother, Wayne Wilke of Washington state.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorna King and husband George; four sons, Jay, his wife Eileen of California, Dana and his wife Gretchen of Washington state, Ian and his wife Linda of Texas, and Tom of California. She was the loving grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

At her request, arrangements are private. The family will gather privately for a celebration of her life.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
