Kenneth Domenic Kinney passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an active participant in the Warren sporting community.

Kenneth D. Kinney, 72, of Warren

Kenny Kinney of Warren, R.I. passed away peacefully on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. 

He was the husband of the late Jane (Andreozzi) Kinney. Born in Providence, R.I., he was the son of the late Charles and Adeline (Mendes) Kinney. 

Kenny was the owners of KK Construction for many years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Kenny served as a wrestling coach for many years as well as a baseball and football coach. He was inducted in to the Warren Hall of Fame for wrestling, football and ping pong. He was a big sports fan, especially for the Norte Dame college football team. He had a quick wit, the best sense of humor and knowledge of almost anything. He could always be seen belting out karaoke tunes. 

He is survived by a daughter, Angel Andreozzi, a granddaughter, Alexis Andreozzi, four great grandchildren, Hailey, Jacob, Kenny and Rhea. Also  three nieces and nephews, Matt, Bryan and Kelly. He was also the brother of the late George, Sonny and Mickey Kinney. 

Arrangements are with the Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Rd, Warren, R.I., where family will receive friends on Oct. 8, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. 

Burial will be private.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
