Letter: A solution looking for a problem in Barrington

To the editor:

After watching a recent Town Council meeting I am more convinced that the Band of Five has a solution looking for a problem! I was appalled to see that they spent taxpayer money to identify town-wide racial issues. What this study is saying is that there are the oppressed and the oppressors. They claim systemic racism. They talk about racism as if it’s a one way street! That’s not to say racism doesn’t exist. It does and it comes in all colors, but not everyone is racist.

Barrington’s Band of Five act more like communists hiding behind a facade. It’s either their way or the highway. You want a flag added to the pole, you have to find one of them who is willing to “sponsor” a flag request. Why not just submit a request to the town manager and then they can vote on it for all to see! Isn’t that the Democratic way? Better yet, don’t fly flags that are offensive and divisive.

Their latest act of cowardice was when citizens requested the councilors to support their request to have the library carry a different point of view relating to the Critical Race Theory. They requested the library to make available free copies of "The New Anti-Semites" which offers an alternative point of view. When a library refuses to offer differing points of view, that’s called indoctrination. What’s next a book burning? Meanwhile the counselors did absolutely nothing! Not one had the character to make a motion to support the effort. Is it wrong to have differing points of view?

Is this what Barrington has become? Politicians who want rule over you by a bunch of “woke” white men who all agree on everything! Elections have consequences!
