Letter: Candidate with obscene signs doesn’t represent town

To the editor:

I was looking at the list of candidates this year for Town Council here in Portsmouth and I was surprised to see that among them was listed Mr. Michael DiPaola, who is running ostensibly as a Democrat.

For those who do not know, Mr. DiPaola is responsible for the unsightly lot full of broken toilets and obscenity-laced placards that defaces our town on East Main Road.

I have spoken to members of both the Democratic and Republican parties locally and I can say confidently that neither party wishes to be associated with this eyesore or the person responsible for it. They certainly do not want such an individual representing our town on its council.

I think it is important that all of us are aware of this when we go to the polls in September and again in November, when hopefully the issue will no longer be relevant.
