To the editor:

We were somewhat taken aback by the front page article in the June 26 article in the Barrington Times. When we were contacted by Council member Rob Humm, we were unaware of the much more expansive plans apparently discussed at the Financial Town Meeting.  

We are not at all opposed to improvements to the current section of South Lake Drive between North Lake Dr. and Washington Road. We trust any improvements there will be done in an environmentally sensitive manner. The parking area at the North Lake/South Lake intersection, and the area between North Lake and the temporary gate blocking access, certainly needs to be addressed. This area also has some "after dark" usage issues which need to be addressed.

We do, however, have reservations about the much larger plans apparently being proposed by the Resilience and Energy Committee and the Open Space Committee and discussed in the article. The larger plan raises much greater environmental and traffic issues. We hope the concerns of the residents of this part of town will be considered.
