Letter: Disgusted by some local dog-walkers

To the editor:

My wife and I regularly walk our dog on leash in our neighborhood, and we are always careful to pick up any poop our dog might leave on lawns and take it home to dispose of properly. We become furious when we find some other dog walker has picked up their dog's poop, placed it in a bag, tied the bag -- and then dropped it on someone else's property. This gesture says, in effect, we recognize dog poop is a problem -- but we're going to drop it here on your property for you to pick up. I wish I could say I'm shocked by this, but it happens so regularly that I am no longer surprised, just disgusted. This is irresponsible and an insult to the homeowners, of course. It also is a violation of Barrington's ordinance 67-18 on "Canine Waste Removal." Finally, this behavior makes all dog walkers look bad. Who are you people? Please stop what you are doing. Get a grip.
