Letter: Interested in running for office? We want to help

To the editor:

The 2024 election season is underway and all eyes are on presidential campaigns and the future of our democracy. Closer to home, candidates for local office have an opportunity to impact the future of our town. We are fortunate to live in a place where so many of our neighbors are dedicated to building a strong, inclusive community where we can all thrive. If you are looking to be more involved, the Bristol Democratic Town Committee (BDTC) wants to help!

The BDTC’s official role is to support local Democrats who want to serve our community as a public official in the roles of: Town Administrator, Town Clerk, Town Council, and Town Committee. Our goals include electing candidates who share our commitment to open, honest, and equitable government; working collectively to ensure a robust, healthy, and resilient town; celebrating our culture, traditions, and history; and embracing the diversity that makes us stronger as a community.

If you are a Democrat who is planning to run for office, thinking about running for office, or wondering what it takes to run for office, we are here to help! Send us an email at bristolridems@gmail.com with questions and we’ll be happy to schedule some time to discuss your goals, explain more about the election process, and understand how the BDTC supports our endorsed candidates.

Thank you for getting involved in this important process — we’re looking forward to hearing from you!
