Letter: She was the heart and soul of Bayside YMCA

To the editor:

On July 1, the Bayside Family YMCA lost a pillar of our community, and a tireless advocate for Y programming that enriches the lives of countless families.

For nearly three decades, Gloria Hall has been a beloved member of the Bayside Family YMCA. Her dedication and passion have not only helped shape our facilities but also touched numerous lives, making our community stronger and more united than ever before.

Philanthropy was at the very core of Gloria’s being. In fact, thanks in part to her advocacy, we now have an indoor pool, locker rooms, and a front lobby. Gloria’s legacy is indelibly etched in our hearts and on the wall behind our front desk, where her name proudly stands as a testament to her incredible support and dedication.

Gloria's commitment to the YMCA extended beyond fundraising. She was an advocate for our health and wellness programs, participated in events and worked closely with Y staff to raise awareness about our cause. Her passion was contagious, inspiring many others to join in and support our mission. In 2018, Gloria was honored as a YMCA Hero, a well-deserved recognition of her contributions and impact.

Outside of her work with the Y, Gloria was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and businesswoman. She was deeply dedicated to her family, faith, and bettering the world around her.

As we honor the memory of Gloria Hall, we celebrate not only her life but also the countless, immeasurable contributions she made to the Bayside Family YMCA. Her legacy will continue to inspire us all, and her vibrant spirit will forever be a cherished part of our Y family, guiding and uplifting us for generations to come. We are grateful for her support.

Sincerely,

Karen Santilli
