The meticulously staged production recreates the story of Jesus’ birth from the Roman guards taking the census and the shepherds’ field, where angels proclaim the birth, to the manger scene with Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus before being welcomed by camels and the Three Wise Men approaching the holy family’s home. Stay for warm refreshments while the kids decorate Christmas cookies.

WHAT: Live nativity

WHEN: Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9, from 6 to 8 p.m.

WHERE: Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Barrington

COST: Free, family-friendly event
