Melissa J. Vargas, 47, passed away after a very long illness at her home on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Born in Providence, she was the beloved daughter of Betty and Bibs Vargas.

Born and raised in Bristol, Melissa attended Bristol High School where she graduated in 1991. She also attended Loretta’s School of Cosmetology. She was employed by Chestnuts Salon in Providence for many years. Melissa was a communicant of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir, served as an acolyte, and was active in youth group.

Melissa will be remembered for many things! Her attention to detail was a passion. She excelled at everything she did: playing softball, soccer, arts, music, photography cooking and baking. She enjoyed snow and water skiing, dirt bike riding and just being outside always finding beauty in nature. She always remembered relatives and friends on special days by sending cards.

Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her kindness and loving way. She always tried to see the brighter side of things. Even when life wasn’t so sweet for her, she would find some solace in her love for sweets and candy!

In addition to her parents, Bibs and Betty, Melissa also leaves behind her siblings: Leesa Vargas, Lisbeth Ramsay (Enzly), Cynthia Rocha (Robert), David Vargas (Jaclyn); her nieces and nephews: Elijah Ramsay, Lily Ramsay, Logan Rocha, Evan Rocha, Lylah Vargas, Nadia Vargas; her dog, Willow, and Amazon parrot, Guzoo; and many extended family and friends.

In death Melissa is reunited with her son, Justin T. Black.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at North Burial Ground on Hope Street in Bristol. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name can be made to Faith’s Lodge, 505 HWY 196 N, Suite 245, Plymouth, Mn 55441
