Mystic Aquarium to Celebrate Opening of its New Marine National Monuments Exhibit

On Wednesday, May 29th, as part of Mystic Aquarium’s Conservation in Action series, members of the community are invited to join in celebration of the Aquarium’s new exhibit, developed in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which highlights the nation’s five Marine National Monuments: Marianas Trench, Northeast Canyons and Seamounts, Pacific Remote Islands, Papahānaumokuākea, and Rose Atoll.

Guests will enjoy the premier screening of Living Monuments, a 20-minute film that captures the spectacular beauty of these regions, their incredible biodiversity and the conservation efforts to restore these ecosystems. Afterwards, guests are invited to attend a reception to hear from experts before being treated to a tour of the new exhibit.

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
