"The Myths Of The Sea,” with the photography of Edwin Gifford  featuring the yachts of Nathanael G. Herreshoff, and the sculptures of Bonnie Blue, whose work concentrates on dolphins, mermaids and enchanted sailing ships, will open at the Herreshoff Marine Museum’s 26 Burnside St., Bristol, location on Thursday, Aug. 24. An opening reception is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Both Ed and Bonnie are Bristol artists who have their studios in the Herreshoff Marine Museum. The show will  benefit the Herreshoff Youth Sailing Program. According to Gifford, "Bonnie and I are honored  to be having an exhibition at the Herreshoff Marine Museum and are thrilled to be supporting the fantastic summer youth sailing program run by the museum. Those kids sailing out on the Bay seem to be having the time of their lives!”America’s Cup  Hall of Fame member Halsey C. Herreshoff has written the show’s introduction and will speak. There will be music of the sea performed by two-time solo Circumnavigator Donna Lange, and  Aidan's Pub regular Johnny Forrest will be playing Irish music. Food and libations will be served, and all are welcome. For more information, go to Herreshoff.org.
