A cell phone tower on Peter Road that collapsed around 10:30 on Monday morning in Bristol is now being investigated to find out what caused the tall structure to fail.
Town Administrator Steven Contente said on Tuesday that he was grateful nobody was hurt when the tower toppled over, and that the Town Building Inspector had issued a permit for it to be removed on Wednesday.
Contente said that the tower would undergo a forensic investigation to assess why it fell in the first place, and that he had been in communication with Verizon, who claimed that cell phone service would not be affected due to overlapping coverage from other antennas in the area.
