Sophia Sebolt leads Portsmouth offense with 7 goals

PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High girls’ varsity lacrosse team advanced in the Division I state playoffs with a 17-12 victory over Barrington at home on Thursday, May 23.

Sophia Sebolt led the Patriots on offense with seven goals in the quarterfinal matchup between No. 3-seeded Portsmouth and No. 6-seeded Barrington.

Stella Orrr and Emilie Bobola added three goals apiece for the Patriots, followed by Margaux Boneau (two goals and two assists) and Talus Nightingale and Nora Cooney (one apiece).

Anna Lombardi led the Eagles with five goals, followed by Emily Horn, with three.

The Patriots advanced to face No. 2-seeded La Salle Academy at Cranston Stadium at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30.

The championship game is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, at Brown University.
