Pole vaulter leads Barrington girls at state track meet

Ellie Noonan wins pole vault event; BHS finishes 14th

The Barrington High School girls outdoor track team finished 14th at the state track championship on Saturday, June 1, at Connelly Stadium in Providence. 

Ellie Noonan was Barrington’s top finisher. Noonan, a junior, cleared 10 feet, 9 inches to win the pole vault event. 

Kitty Wang also had a strong showing in the discus with a fourth place finish. Wang’s top throw was 110 feet, 2 inches. 

Helena Hyde finished seventh in the high jump, clearing the bar at five feet. 

Jordan Roskiewicz finished seventh in the 300-meter hurdles, Sophia Ford finished eighth in the long jump with a distance of 16 feet, 5.5 inches. 

Barrington’s 4x800-meter relay team of Maeve Kelly, Ella Reagan, Sara Chang and Sophie Gardos raced to an eighth place finish.
