Portsmouth: Domestic incidents, psilocybin mushrooms top police report

PORTSMOUTH — Here are some recent arrests or citations issued by Portsmouth Police:

Saturday, Aug. 17

Three people were cited for kindling a fire on someone else’s property without permission — a violation of a town ordinance — at the public waterfront access point on Pheasant Drive around 8:20 p.m., police said. They were Keenan D. Oliveira, 27, of 151 Heritage Drive; Sandra Elizabeth Rodriguez Ascencio, 33, of no permanent address in Boston; and Hector Morales Villanueva, 40, of 67 Hillwood St., Apt. 1, Cranston.

Sunday, Aug. 18

Jose Lucas Lima, 38, of 31 Clarence St., Randolph, Mass., was charged with disorderly conduct (fighting/tumultuous behavior); and trespassing on a railroad right-of-way, at about 3:40 p.m. in the area of Railroad Avenue and the Sakonnet River Bridge.

Kevin L. Noriega, 32, of 158 Regent Ave., Apt. 3R, Providence, was cited for consuming alcohol on a beach, in violation of a town ordinance, at the Pheasant Drive waterfront public access point at about 5:50 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 19

Dallas Antonio Wynegar, 29, of 609 King Phillip Ave., Fall River, was arrested just before 7 a.m. on a warrant charging him with three counts of passing counterfeit bills valued at under $1,500.

George David Smith, 18, of 180 McCorrie Lane, was arrested at the police station around 4:30 p.m. on an affidavit warrant charging him with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property. He was secured in a cell until his arraignment by a justice of the peace, police said. The victim was a 44-year-old Portsmouth man, police said. 

Tuesday, Aug. 20

Max Exantus, 43, of 28 Avila Road, Hyde Park, Mass., was charged with trespassing on a railroad right-of-way in the area of Railroad Avenue under the Sakonnet River Bridge at about 4:15 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 23

Douglas John Michael Leonardo, 68, of 42 Glen Meade Drive, Apt. C, was charged with domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property, at about 1:45 p.m. According to police, officers received a complaint that Leonardo had vandalized a garage door by stapling a note to it. Officers observed damage to the door and were able to confirm Leonardo was responsible after viewing video surveillance footage, police said. The victims were a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, both from Portsmouth, according to police.

Saturday, Aug. 24

Leonel Arnolfo Cante Ardon, 24, of 120 Carleton St., Apt. 1, Providence, was charged with driving after his license had been suspended, and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock system which had previously been ordered by a court, police said. He was pulled over on East Main Road at police headquarters around 10:10 p.m. According to police, Cante Ardon’s license had been suspended for a prior charge of refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Sunday, Aug. 25

Two people were charged with domestic assault when police responded to the area of the Weaver Cove boat ramp off Burma Road around 7 p.m. after receiving a report of an assault in progress. Arrested were Braimo De Pina Teixeira, 33, of 116 Wayland St., Dorchester, Mass.; and Ivandra Pires Mendes, 34, of 60 Hazelton St., Mattapan, Mass.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

Christie Lee Murphy, 44, of 102 Easton Ave. was charged with domestic assault and domestic vandalism/malicious injury to property. Lee was arrested at an East Main Road residence around 5:15 p.m. on a 24-hour domestic warrant, police said. The victim was a 68-year-old woman who lives in Portsmouth, according to police.

Loren A. Koliscz, 40, of 16 Garden St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and child endangerment. Koliscz was taken into custody on a warrant shortly before 6 p.m. following an investigation that revealed she had previously been growing psilocybin mushrooms within her residence, according to police. Two children who lived with her were at risk of accessing the mushrooms, police said. A man who lived at the same residence, Oren Banks, 40, was aware that the mushrooms were being grown within the home and was arrested on the same charges, police said.

Thursday, Aug. 29

Jessica Anne Rego, 41, of 359 Child St., Warren, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under a foreign license that had been suspended or revoked. Rego was pulled over on East Main Road at Turnpike Avenue shortly before midnight. Ray’s Towing responded and took custody of the vehicle.

Friday, Aug. 30

Christie Lee Murphy, 45, of 102 Easton Ave., was arrested on an affidavit warrant for a domestic assault charge at about 9:10 a.m. Murphy was arrested after an officer observed her motor vehicle bearing an illegal registration plate cover while it was parked at a business on East Main Road. 

Christian Thomas McCloskey, 54, of 166 Ray St., Fall River, was charged with driving under the influence (DUI), first offense, after being pulled over for speeding and other traffic infractions on Route 24 North around 8 p.m. McCloseky was also cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Saturday, Aug. 31

James Francis Janus, 53, of 63 Orchard View Road, was charged with domestic disorderly conduct at about 6:45 p.m., following an incident at his home. The victim was an 81-year-old Portsmouth resident, police said.

Sunday, Sept. 1

Alexander C. Sieben, 28, of 647 Forest Park, Middletown, was charged with violating a no-contact order following a suspicious vehicle inquiry at Mobil Xtra Mart on West Main Road at about 12:20 a.m. The victim was a 23-year-old Portsmouth woman, police said.

Lynette Eve Lord, 52, of 8 Alder Berry Land, Mattapoisett, Mass., was charged with DUI, first offense, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 North at Sprague Street around 11:35 p.m. Lord was also cited for refusing a chemical test, police said.
