PORTSMOUTH — Cora Powledge of Portsmouth earned a first-place gold medal in women’s foil at an “E”-and-under fencing tournament held Oct. 15-16 at Worcester Fencing Club.
Athletes participating in the competition were required to hold a national rating no higher than “E,” one of the five available levels (“A” at the highest through “E”) awarded by the United States Fencing Association.
Cora entered the tournament unrated, but earned her first “E” due to her consistently strong performance.
She is a member of the competitive squad at Rhode Island Fencing Academy & Club (RIFAC) in East Providence.
