Providence hosts Three Nights of Lights

Posted

Make the season bright during Providence’s Three Nights of Lights, presented by Dunkin'. This three-day festival of lights includes fun for the whole family, with free citywide events, all incorporating the theme of light.

Head downtown on Friday, Dec. 1, for the Providence tree lighting in front of City Hall, with live entertainment including the International Soul Brothers, Ballet RI, Santa, and more.

On Saturday, Dec. 2, don't miss WaterFire's basin lighting, holiday market, and a visit by Santa. Throughout the weekend, experience a new multimedia installation and live ensemble performance presented by Firstworks. Stroll through downtown and enjoy illuminated and activated art experiences by The Avenue Concept.

The weekend also features holiday shopping events, an ice sculpture garden, and so much more holiday cheer!

This year’s Three Nights of Lights kicks off Special Olympics Donut Week, an annual initiative where Dunkin’ franchisees in Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts donate 25 cents from every donut sold to Special Olympics. Special Olympics Donut Week runs from Saturday, December 2 to Saturday, December 9. Show your support for Special Olympics Rhode Island by visiting Dunkin' or donating online.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
