Rapid testing in Bristol begins Saturday
Town beach testing site will be available 3 days a week until further notice
Beginning Saturday, Jan. 9, Bristol will have its own testing site at the Town Beach, offering free rapid COVID-19 tests for any resident who wants one.
According to Town Administrator Steven Contente, the site is being established at the request of council chairman Nathan Calouro, organized and staffed by the Bristol Police and Fire departments, using rapid tests supplied by the National Guard.
The drive-up testing site will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until further notice. It will be free to residents, with funding coming from police and fire deparmental budgets.
Results should be available within 30 minutes.
"There won't be a shortage of tests," said Mr. Contenete. "We have thousands, and can get more from the National Guard as needed."
"We are still waiting on more vaccines; we wish we had more," he said. "But at least now we have a testing site that is convenient for Bristol residents."
