Fire Chief: No one injured during Monday morning fire

Posted

A section of North Lake Drive was closed down on Monday morning, Jan. 22, due to a house fire.

Firefighters from Barrington and surrounding departments responded to the western end of North Lake Drive a little after 8 a.m., and quickly hooked up to hydrants in the area.

By about 8:40 a.m., Barrington Fire Chief Gerald Bessette said the fire was under control.

“We think we’ve got it down,” Chief Bessette said. “We’re just making sure nothing got into the attic. That’s all.”

Chief Bessette said it appeared the fire started in the laundry room.

“It looked like they were doing a little work in there and put a screw into a wire,” Chief Bessette said, adding that crews extinguished the flames before they spread too far. He said the fire had been inside one wall and traveled up toward the attic space.

Chief Bessette said there were people present inside the home when the fire broke out. He said no one was injured.
