Robert L. Fay, 87, of Bristol Woods Drive, Bristol, R.I., passed away peacefully on March 15, 2021, surrounded by loving family members.

Born in Boston, Mass., he was the son of the late Mark and Marian (Kiley) Fay. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Carol (Salenius) Fay, and by his children, Robert Fay Jr., Donna Jordan (husband Edward), Timothy Fay (wife Barbara), Thomas Fay (wife Colette), Dianne Raiola (husband Pasquale) and Sheila Lania (husband Brian). He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara King Miller. He is the grandfather of 22 grandchildren and the great-grandfather of 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Fay, sister, Annemarie Donavan, and sister, Elenore Dore.

Bob was a 1952 graduate of Boston College High School, spent four years in the Navy submarine service before working as an electronic engineer at Quincy Ship Yard. He was a teacher at the South Shore Vocational Technical High School and then spent twenty-five years working for Raytheon Corporation in its Submarine Signaling Division in Portsmouth, R.I. While at Raytheon, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Roger Williams College.

His greatest accomplishment was his love and service to his family. There is nothing he wouldn’t do to help a family member in need. We always went on vacations and day trips to fun places. He rebuilt many a family house by teaching himself carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other handyman tasks.

His Catholic religion was very important to him.  He was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church in Bristol.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol. Visiting hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers,  memorial contributions in his name can be made to: St. Mary’s Church, 330 Wood St., Bristol, RI, 20809, or the Bristol Rescue Squad.
